More About

Who Is Rusty Boruff?

Rusty Boruff is the Founder of One Eighty, a faith based nonprofit organization that has been in existence since 2009. The vision of One Eighty is inspired by Rusty’s personal life experiences. Including being a drug addict, homeless, incarcerated, and eventually unemployable. Through those experiences Rusty witnessed the love and support of great friends and family. However, he realized not everyone had that.

He went on to start One Eighty, a multi-faceted organization which includes various enterprises and outreaches that impact thousands each month. Rusty has been recognized for his efforts nationally- including by Matthew West a Grammy winning singer, who wrote a song that was inspired by Rusty’s life.

Additionally, Rusty’s story has been featured on TV, best-selling books, national recognized magazines, and on the 700 club. He has been endorsed by pro athletes, musicians, and authors such as Cecil Murphy, the author of 90 Minutes in heaven and the Ben Carson Story - Gifted Hands.

Rusty resides in Coal Valley, IL with his wife, Brook, their sons Tannen and Ezekiel, and their daughter Everlee. He is the author of three books, one which has reached Amazons Best Seller list.

In August of 2021, Rusty suffered a life-threatening stroke at the age of 34. Six months later, he resigned his position as Executive Director and CEO of One Eighty. At the end of his tenure, Rusty led 35+ staff members and hundreds of volunteers per month. He’s managed the budget, worked with the board of directors, raised funds, marketed the organization, lead staff, and networked in the community.

Previously, Rusty handled all the finances and has experience in Human Resources. Additionally, he pioneered One Eighty Enterprises, which are businesses within the non-profit that employ an additional 40 employees. Together, the organization has grown from a $12,000 budget his first year to over $3 million annually in 2022.

One Eighty works with thousands of kids and families in poverty, reaches and develops low-income neighborhoods, and currently houses 125+ individuals as part of the 14-month residential program. One Eighty has literally transformed one geographical neighborhood for the good.

Since 2016, Rusty has raised and invested an additional $15 million with One Eighty to purchase and restore over 30 buildings including building the first mid-west Tiny Homes. Rusty has had the honor of traveling the country speaking and consulting to large and small groups. One Eighty has gained national attention as a leading non-profit start up organization.
